Get to Know FinOps In Five

My Background

Dan  is a senior technology executive and Microsoft commercial strategist with more than 25 years of enterprise technology leadership experience, including 15+ years focused specifically on Microsoft commercial optimization, FinOps governance, and cloud financial accountability.

A former CIO with direct P&L responsibility, Dan brings a rare perspective to enterprise technology decisions: he has sat in the seat where budget, risk, architecture, and executive accountability converge. That experience shapes his work today advising global organizations on how to structure, negotiate, and govern complex Microsoft ecosystems.

Dan currently serves as Global Director within the Microsoft Alliance at Kyndryl, where he leads enterprise advisory strategy across Azure, Microsoft 365, Enterprise Agreements, MCA structures, and AI consumption economics. He specializes in helping CIOs and CFOs turn Microsoft investments into measurable business outcomes rather than unmanaged cost centers.

He is a FinOps Certified Professional, Practitioner, Engineer, and FOCUS Analyst, and previously served a three-year term on the Governing Board of the FinOps Foundation. He also holds Microsoft certifications in Azure AI and cloud architecture.

Dan is the creator of FinOps in Five, a thought leadership platform focused on Microsoft commercial governance, AI-era cloud economics, and the financial discipline required to modernize responsibly.

His work sits at the intersection of:

  • Commercial strategy and contract negotiation
  • Cloud cost governance and FinOps maturity
  • AI workload economics and allocation models
  • Enterprise agreement optimization
  • Technology portfolio rationalization

Dan believes technology strategy is ultimately capital allocation strategy — and that clarity, structure, and disciplined governance create competitive advantage.
